Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

These terms cover the Inkidian iPad app, the free Inkidian plugin for Obsidian and this website. Inkidian is made by Thomas Toffalori, Rosengartenstrasse 15, 39022 Algund, Italy, [email protected].

The app

You get Inkidian from Apple's App Store or, during the beta, through TestFlight. Your use of the app is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with these terms. If the two differ, Apple's agreement applies.

Trial and purchase

After a free 14-day trial, writing, creating notes and changing pages need a one-time in-app purchase. It's not a subscription. The price is shown in the App Store before you buy. After the trial, without the purchase, all your notes still open and can be read. Apple handles payments, refunds and restoring purchases. For a refund, use reportaproblem.apple.com.

The beta

The TestFlight beta is free. Beta versions are unfinished: they can contain bugs, change or stop working, and they expire after a while. Back up your vault while you use the beta. Apple's TestFlight terms apply as well. If you send feedback, we may use it to improve Inkidian, without owing you anything for it.

Your notes

Your notes, PDFs and images are yours. Inkidian saves them as files in the folder you choose and doesn't upload them anywhere. We don't get any rights to them. How we handle data is in the privacy policy.

The plugin and the file format

The Obsidian plugin is free and open source under the MIT License, which covers it instead of these terms where the two differ. The .inkd file format is documented publicly, so your notes stay readable without Inkidian.

Liability

We build Inkidian with care, but we can't promise that it's free of errors or always available, in particular during the beta. Keep backups of your vault. We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence and injury to life, body or health. Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we aren't liable for lost data or indirect damage. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

Changes

We may update these terms, for example when Inkidian gets new features. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters for you, we'll mention it in the release notes.

Law

Italian law applies. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

Trademarks

Inkidian is an independent app and isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Obsidian or Dynalist Inc. Obsidian is a trademark of Dynalist Inc. Apple Pencil and iPad are trademarks of Apple Inc.
